Allied Styles announces its representation of Detroit-based tattoo artist Krissy “The Butcher” for publicity services.

In 2008 she began her career and established an immediate name for herself in an industry that is predominantly saturated with males.

“At the first tattoo shop I worked at, I was the first girl. It was a pretty odd sight to see this little, timid 20-year-old tattooing alongside the rough-looking stereotypical male artists.”

Since her inception in the industry, The Butcher has gained an immense amount of local recognition as an emerging talent and is set to be featured in various prominent publications this summer.

Carlos is a boy-about-town. A young NYC dweller whose insight into the happenings of the city are commical and coveted. He is, what some would call an “It-boy”. We introduce to you our newest addition to the Allied Styles family, Carlos; as he shares his outspoken and entertaining travels and priceless experiences.

There’s a lack of intimacy in my new room in Brooklyn. I’ve been here for over two weeks and I’ve yet to move all my belongings from their storage. Basically I’m super lazy, but Brooklyn is soooo far, let’s be real.

This fucking air mattress sucks and it keeps deflating after a few days and I think a mouse keeps going in and out of this hole on the side of the wall. Honestly, nothing will compare to my apartment in Manhattan. I lived there for an entire year, centrally located on 2nd and 2nd; right next to the F and a block away from Whole Foods.

The more I think about it, now that I’ve been in NYC for over a year, I probably should have started out here in Brooklyn; instead of trying to push a lifestyle that someone like me does not procure. I should have fought tooth-and-nail to actually get myself to Manhattan.

Anyway, the lack of intimacy…

It’s hard to bring someone home, even within the first line: “I live in Broo-”, then they say, “oh, that’s nice, well see you later!” Also maybe the whole ‘empty room, air mattress, mouse’ thing isn’t very welcoming. Fuck Brooklyn.

Halloween plans (reminders):

Mark Ronson party @ Milk

That RSVP I just returned to Papermag about 12 hours too late.

Anything with an open bar – will update later.

GET COSTUME. Four days!?

Also don’t forget about your RAATCITY.com launch party

besos bitches xox

Exactly one year ago today, I was at Topshop in Soho with my cousin Kristen. We were perusing the shoe section when she asked me what would go best with her outfit…you see I have always been able to pick out something for someone else within minutes but when it comes to dressing myself, well that’s another story. It was there that I thought maybe I should try and break into the styling world but that wasn’t big enough for me. So I gathered up a few close friends and started brainstorming ideas and from there Allied Styles was born.

I knew I wanted to work with a certain type of client. I didn’t want to be like everyone else and was on the hunt for people who shared my passion for creativity. I wanted to work with people who would otherwise be turned away but had stellar and unique ideas nonetheless. Shortly after this revelation I styled my first music video and ever since then I haven’t missed a day of work.

When I started this company it was never about the money, it’s always been about the experience. So, as Allied Styles turns 1-year-old I’d like to thank my incredible friends, co-workers, and clients for an incredible year.

We’ve all been guilty of browsing FML or TFLN while we were suppose to be answering 9-1-1 calls at work (just kidding or am I) and or taking notes in lecture hall. No matter how much you bitch at Cindy or John for leaving an ungodly amount of posts on your Facebook wall recounting last nights hook-up, drunken escapade or embarrassing moment of shinning glory, we can’t get enough of either sites.

Heck, you may have even tried submitting a few bits hoping to brag to your friends about your accomplishment (though banging an ugly chick, taking a walk of shame and or public nudity is allegedly an accomplishment that has never been proven). Alas, you’ve never been able to tell your story and the closest you’ve even been is through a friend who knows a friend who has gotten their 5 minutes of fame.

For those looking for something new but equally as entertaining/ salty that their texts from last night will never hit the Net let me introduce you to The Best One Liners.

The Best One Liners is an unlimited source of laughs created by two college students straight out of Michigan. Their goal is to bring you the laughs while allowing you to share jokes ad nauseum. The site is full of comical one liners and viral videos. If you think you’ve got the best one liner go on, don’t be shy and submit yours today.

John Bridges, a waiter at the Blue Pointe Grill in Cleveland, cannot continue to wait for LeBron James to place his dinner order. Bridges, who has been with the restaurant for over 3 years has, “like 6 other tables” and would really love it if James could just “make a fucking a decision already, the menu hasn’t changed in the past 2 months, he knew what he was dealing with and at this point it’s just getting kind of embarrassing for him.

James, who has been a basketball sensation since High School, explained the hold up “I know what I want, it’s just, I’m having a really hard time doing it by myself. I thought, hey, how hard could it be, I can order a perfectly tasty dinner alone, plenty of people have done it before me, why can’t I?” The optimistic James quickly fell back into reality when he realized that it was “a lot harder then it looks” and “it would be a lot easier if I had some of the right people helping me.”

Dan Gilbert, who coincidentally owns every single business in the dying city of Cleveland, can’t believe that James is going to behave in such a way. “What is this guys problem? I’ve purchased the best ingredients, hired a great staff, made the menu readily accessible to avid and casual diners a like. What the fuck else can I do for this guy?” Gilbert personally visited James’ table on several occasions but could not get him to commit to a particular dish. “It would be one thing if he just came out and said ‘Look Dan, I’m not going to order what you’ve suggested, we’ve had some great meals in the past, but I just can’t see eye to eye with you on the Ahi Tuna’ but noooo, he’s going to wait until I walk away and place his fucking order behind my back.”

An increasingly livid Gilbert went on to say “I PERSONALLY GURANTEE THAT EVERY OTHER TABLE IN THE RESTAURANT WILL ORDER THEIR ENTREES BEFORE THE SELF PROCLAIMED ‘KING’ EVEN ORDERS AN APPETIZER”

Laker fans felt the need to give their two cents on LeBron’s dinner “Decision,” although it has nothing to do with their immense fear that LeBron will one day order a better meal then Kobe. “Hey Queen James! Haha see what I did there? Its funny because it’s the female version of his nickname and being effeminate is totally gay! How about you order the filet mignon, does that have a nice ring to it? Haha see what I did there? He’s never won a ring so I made a pun about the fact that he doesn’t have a ring! Did you guys know Kobe has like a bunch of rings?”

Ironically, Lakers guard Derek Fisher was also at the same restaurant, however he did not cross paths with James because he came in roughly 3 hours earlier to take advantage of the Senior Discount. Fisher was however joined by the Reverend Jesse Jackson who ordered his usual meal of Watermelon battered Fried Chicken with a side of Collard Greens, Chitlins, Grape Kool-Aid and Grits mixed with Colt 45.

At press time, James was still yet to make a decision on his dinner, however it’s pretty much set in stone that whatever he chooses, will be the wrong choice.

Allied took a trip to the Lower East Side to bring you this look at Frank’s Chop Shop, barbershop and epicenter of downtown cool. Its nondescript, Essex street storefront nearly lulls the curious passerby into believing the shop is no different from any other on the block.

Upon entering, however, the interior immediately reminds that this is the nostalgic brainchild of the street-culture gurus behind the Frank151 Media Group. The space is decked out with vintage barber chairs and other old-time accoutrements, but details like the photos hanging from the walls that amount to a who’s who of downtown NYC and the sick Frank151 gear on display keep you from ever doubting that the guys and gals behind FCS are hipper than you know. The brilliantly confused old-new aesthetic is in large part the allure of Frank’s, inciting the curiosity of international megastars, local idols, and average joes alike.

Luckily for all of them, the skilled barbers here know that their straight razor shave might be the closest a client gets to escaping the tumult of the city and are ready to scrap the phony pleasantries for some real talk. Come for a good cut, stay because it’s a chill spot and they’re honestly glad to have you, which sad to say is rare to find in a business these days.
