Are you a NYC native?

 I moved to NYC a little over a year ago.

What was your first job?

I got a modeling contract and met a bunch of people through that. During that year I interned at various marketing firms whose clientele touched a little bit of everything ranging from major fashion labels, casting, to repping some great bands like Morrissey. They also worked with sports stars and even house cleaning products.

So, we heard you throw a good party.

I started throwing a party here (NYC) called TOP8 and was featured as one of 35 most beautiful people in PaperMag for 2011 because of it.

Tell us about Raat City.

Raat City came from me pulling strings for my friends who I thought were talented and believed in. Through all the jobs and modeling contacts I’ve made and had the opportunity to work for, I was able to curate this project. I had already been constantly featuring my friends in places such as Bullett Magazine, PaperMag and even shooting concept videos for  people like Estelle. So this was the next step.

Who is Raat City for?

I wanted to give a voice to all the new talented kids that had just moved here and didn’t have the chance to make the connections necessary to shine. So Raat City came about for them.

How will these creatives make the proper connections?

Raat City has established connections with important players in the industry this will allow them to check out new talent in a concise way. I’ve made contacts from the companies I’ve worked with and acquaintances, its mostly a family and a collective, trying to push and help each other to do better in NYC. We all bring something to the table.

Are you taking submissions?

We want to add more people so we’re always taking submissions. We’re picky though, as I have an eye for talent, which is what I’m bringing to the family at Raat City.

Maher a 20-something-year-old rock n roll enthusiast with a knack for pressing the boundaries of imagination has been living in a luxurious mid western pad located in the beautiful state of Pennslyvania. The Brooklyn native began the project in September, inviting a plethora of musicians, photographers and aspiring-whatevers to come out and to simply, create. 

Popular fashion epicenter of cool and popculture influencer Karmaloop, has involved it’s newest division Karmaloop TV along side director Casey RAnderson  , with the House of Creatives project by filming the entire experience, which is being developed into a webseries.

What are some things you are working on for the future?:

My band, (The Bowery Riots) are currently in the studio working on our Ep, it should be done by late October. We are looking forward to touring Europe as soon as we’re done recording.  I’ve done some acting on a bunch of Indie films and I have a small feature roll in an upcoming episode of HBO’s “How To Make It In America“, due in October.  I’m also really excited about my current Dj residency at The Electric Room at the Dream Hotel.

What have you learned through your experiences?:

Everyone you meet is important and nothing is trivial. Always keep a pocket knife. Always have a Moleskin book. Bless those who treat you unjustly.  My good friend and bandmate Tj always says “Stay humble, you meet the same people on the way up as you do on the way down.”

What are some things you hope to accomplish in the future?:

I really want to learn more about wiring i.e amps, guitars…ect.  I really like customizing my tools and I think the way to get a distinct sound is to be able to tweak your equipment.

I’d like to collaborate with someone in fashion; be it a campaign or a show.  I think music and fashion have always gone hand-in-hand .  We did a show for Paul Smith last fashion week and it was amazing, they’ve given us clothes to wear for a lot of our recent shows and press!  On a final note, I’d like to mention Gram Parsons who said, “We play Rock-N-Roll, we can wear whatever we want.”

What experiences will you take away from 7 Questions?: In the past year I have learned how to keep a constant smile on my face. I hate that question…ummm, but also when you truly discover and pursue what you are passionate about you treat that like  it’s your child. I also want to mention boobs and Mary Jane… just because.

How would you describe yourself?: Wow, well I am able to appreciate the things that go unappreciated. There are only a few people who can truly understand my mental state. I love Easy Mac and beef jerky . Also I really hope that when Jesus returns he has some sort of theme music, like I wonder if he would drop a “Jesus Back” track.

Given the chance to take over any fashion label which would you choose and why?

RAEZZ: So tough! I want to go with Alexander McQueen because his designs have always been amazing and beyond our time, but I don’t think I would want to mar his vision. Maybe I’ll go with Chanel. Chanel is always classy!

What resort collections are you looking forward to viewing?

RAEZZ: Givenchy, YSL, Alexander Wang.

What summer songs are you really feeling right now?

RAEZZ: Anything by The Golden Filter, We Have Band and Neon Indian.

What trends are you loving and hating for this season?

RAEZZ: I can’t stand clogs. And I’m not digging the army jacket trend either–that is so not my colour!
