Imagination is powerful and unlimited which makes it absolutely captivating. When creativity is actualized into something tangable such as art, it is fascinating because it is boundless; art has many faces.

The way in which ideas are translated with the snap of a shutter, the stroke of a brush, the chisel of stone or pen to paper is interesting when conceived in an avant garde fashion or with a twist of familiarity.

Eric Rosner is an example of said un-conventionalism yet a great talent who is able to translate familiar things, from everyday life, into something visually bewitching.

Rosner is a native New Yorker with over 20 years of experience focused on illustration. He accredits his work to his “expansive imagination” and passion for New York and its culture.

Using ink markers and digital enhancements, Rosner is able to convey images of yesteryear and haunting historical images of architecture. He is an international artist with an immense understanding of the soul that exists at the very depths of New York.

Youth often presents the linkage between this idea of innocence untarnished by the realities of society and the persistently curious child, frequently asking “why, this?” or “why, that?”

The young developing mind of an adolescent is sometimes vexing with ignorance and the unexplored. Furthermore, youth is not only the concrete semblance of a young-being but, for some, an unattainable period of years lost never to be found again.

American photographer Sally Mann is somehow able to bridge the gap between youth and adulthood. Even if you’re unfamiliar with her work, it is likely you’ve seen it without any recollection.

Born in Lexington, Virginia, Mann has curated images that not only reflect the roots of the south but her earliest works are a reproduction of the very angst that can be youth; “At Twelve: Portraits of Young Women”, and “Immediate Family” (which showcase her three children and husband) being the epitome of that very example. One of Mann’s most well-known photos, among the internet community, from the “Immediate Family” series is “Candy Cigarette”.

There is something undeniably beautiful about the young spirit and something to be highly coveted. Unfortunately, one does not appreciate the idea of being “forever young” until the salts of the hour glass have dwindled and a quarter-life crisis is upon them.

It is generally a faux-pas to speak of the pornographic evils associated with misguided youth but there is something interesting about chaos. “At Tweleve: Portraits of Young Women”, celebrate and shine light on that very chaos, illustrating what it means to be a young American girl on the verge of maturity.

I find chaos, maybe even from the sociological stand-point of disrupted ideas, generally fascinating. I mean, come on there is something quite terrifying and electric about a “child” smoking a cigarette or a girl posing with attitude.

To some the reality of youth is Botox. Youth is a face-lift. Youth is dangerous. Ultimately it is just a period of life and for a good reason. Youth is a nostalgic idea perpetuated through many things.

Turning back the hands of time come with consequences, more often than not, the result is obsession of what use to be.

Images are owned solely by Sally Mann.

We’d like to introduce you to Christion Lennon, an 18-year-old straight out of Pasadena, CA with big dreams and even bigger accomplishments. Most cats dream of meeting those they idolize but this dude teaches us ambition has no age.

After a brief stint working at a skate shop in So. Cal, Christion landed an internship with VERSUS. “I left Active Ride Shop to intern over there [VERSUS]. They had created a line called Us Versus Them. Now we have a ware house and show room. I do all the online shipping sales and hoping to move up in the company.”Versus will be attending this years Agenda in Huntington Beach.

Getting your foot in the door of an industry takes courage and Chris didn’t just limit himself to one field. When asked what he was passionate about the young hustler recalls high school. His first love had been baseball which he played all the way up until his Sophomore year. His fondness of the game had unfortunately concluded when he sustained an arm injury. “I couldn’t play anymore, it kind of ruined my grades and I slacked off. It really was what made me leave high school and I eventually got my diploma online.” It was during the uncertainty of his future that Christion found clarity through music which led him to DGTLX. “I just want to grow and get better at what I do, I really don’t know what I wanna be I’m still so young but I know it has to do with music or fashion. I would for sure like to be an entrepreneur in those industries.” Says Christion.

Currently he is working on numerous projects with Digital X WorldWide including a collaboration with recording artist Carter. The branding mecca of established and raw talent is additionally occupied with viral projects featuring The Pricks, Big Sean , Yelawolf, Rock City and many more.

Today’s lesson: You can create a life for yourself no matter the situation. Young or old a humble beginning leads to an abundant future.

AS: Who are your mentors?

Christion: James Banuelos. He has taught me so much about life and how to be successful and to be a better person in life. He’s taught me things that no school could ever teach me. I feel lucky to have a boss like him and someone willing to show me the ropes and most importantly hes my closest friend. [I'd also like to mention] James of Us Versus them and Digital X. As well as Mike Glory and Graham of Us Versus Them. Last but not least Hallway.

AS: What are some trends you are loving and hating?

Christion: Im not really into trends, just stick what I like. Hating – Lifted Trucks / Colored Jeans / Jean Skirts /

AS: What are your favorite blogs/magazines to read?

AS: What are your top 5 list overrated celebs?
Christion: Paris Hilton / Andy Milinokis / TIla Tequeila & The Hills Cast Lol

Where Bourdin took advertising images by storm…

While looking at some shots from one of my favorite rising photographers, Zeb Daemen, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come since the likes of Guy Bourdin, and the increasing overlap in influence that all arts have on each other. Where Bourdin took advertising images by storm through the introduction of a strong narrative in his work, Daemen is at the forefront of a tendency to go beyond even narrative and approach abstraction. His shots still have some sort of lingering tale to tell, but if you really take a moment to look at his (and many other photographers’) shots there is a trend toward an immediate beauty that is often idiosyncratic and irrelevant to the product. For his time, Guy Bourdin’s departure from the mere functionality of commercial photography was strong, and now Daemen and his peers work like Modernist painters, with an awareness and exploration of their medium that takes the same ambition and runs with it. Very cool.
